About us:

The Peace Place (Aaoitanga) has been a work of the Dominican Family located in the heart of Auckland City. On 15 August 2018, the Dominican Friars of Auckland handed over governance of their central city venue and programmes to a new board of trustees now operating under the name of Aaiotanga Peace Place Trust. Over the next months you will changes taking place on this website and the development of a new programme of events.

The Peace Place functions as a resource centre, clearing house and meeting place for peace-minded people and as a retreat from the city centre for study, meditation and reflection.

We provide an inclusive space, promoting peace, non-violence, social justice and inter-faith dialogue. People of all faiths or of no faith are welcome to take time out here, enjoy the library, use the internet or meet with others.

The Peace Place is also available for hire for meetings, workshops, etc.

We share our office space with Pax Christi Aotearoa.  Check out their website here:  http://www.paxchristiaotearoa.nz/

How do I get to The Peace Place?

As part of our commitment to the environment The Peace Place encourages the use of public transport.  Our location is extremely well served by public transport and our evening events are timed to finish well before trains and buses stop running in the evenings.

The Peace Place is a short walk from Britomart Transport Centre (8/10 Queen St, Auckland 1010). It's an even shorter walk if you take the Tangihua St exit from Britomart.

A number of buses stop close to us at 2 Anzac Ave (it is a three minute walk from there to 22 Emily Place).

BY FERRY (from Waiheke or the North Shore)

It is a ten minute walk from the Auckland Ferry Terminal to 22 Emily Place.

There is no free or reserved parking at The Peace Place.

There are a small number of metered car parks on Emily Place (charges of $3 per hour for the first two hours & then $6 for each additional hour from Monday to Friday and of $1 per hour on Saturdays apply from 8am to 6pm) but these fill up fast and are usually not available at peak times.

The following car-parks are close by:

·         Tournament Parking at 71 Shortland Street (a two minute walk).

·         The Britomart Car Park at 88 Quay Street (a six minute walk).

·         Wilson Car Park – 53-73 Anzac Ave (a five minute walk).

·         Wilson Car Park Cnr Short St and Eden Cres (a two minute walk).

If you are up for a slightly longer walk the Downtown & Victoria Street Car Parks are both 10 minutes walk away.
